UESP organises conference on innovative management practices
The city of Porto will welcome ERIMA’08 – European Symposium on Innovative Management Practices. The event will take place at the Hotel Porto Palácio on 6 and 7 November. Jorge Pinho de Sousa, coordinator of INESC Porto’s Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP), together with Jéremy Legardeur of ESTIA – École d’Ingenieurs, will be chairmen of this event dedicated to Innovation and Business Management. INESC Porto is responsible for the organisation of the event.
Jorge Pinho de Sousa says that this will be an opportunity to present and discuss innovative management practices, such as “the development of collaboration and collaborative networks, or even lean methods for the output of goods and services”.
UESP's coordinator even considers that these innovative management practices will allow companies to reach efficiency and flexibility levels that will lead to their success in dynamic and unpredictable environments. Therefore, successful cases of companies that have invested in this area will be discussed during the meeting’s two days in order to encourage solutions that are adjusted to the realities of the participants’ organisations.
Innovation at the levels of Organisation, People, Technology and Society are the four themes that will be discussed during the two-day conference that will be an opportunity to promote the sharing of knowledge, experiences and opinions in the context of innovation and entrepreneurial management.
ERIMA - the European Research in Innovation and Management Alliance, from which INESC Porto is partner, aims at the establishment of a “European Network of Excellence” that includes the universities and the research centres that play an active role in this area, promoting new theories, methodologies and techniques related to Innovation and Management.
