CoopNav Project presents results in NAVALIA exhibition

The CoopNAV project carried out its closing workshop on May 24 during the NAVALIA - International Shipbuilding and Maritime Industry Exhibition, which took place in IFEVI Exhibition Centre from May 23 through 25.

This workshop was put together in the auditorium of ACLUNAGA’s stand – Galician Naval Cluster Association. The exhibition included demo sessions during the whole day. The purpose was to show the visitors the results of the CoopNAV project.

Let us be reminded that the CoopNAV project was financed by the INTERREG III A, Sub-Programme North of Portugal/Galicia Sub-Programme, whose objective was to develop a tool for the ship building project, allowing the simulation and the project of ships, as well as a cooperative platform that enables the electronic interaction between the companies and its subcontractors.

This system also involves the Sectoral Associations enabling the sourcing and procurement through its Portals, integrating the tools described above.


The partners are the Sea Industries Association, the Galician Naval Cluster Association, the University of Vigo and the Innovation and Services Centre in El Ferrol. Right now, the pilot facilities are Viana do Castelo’s shipbuilding areas and the MCIES shipbuilding areas in Vigo.

INESC Porto was responsible for the project management, the modeling of the business processes and the development of the cooperative platform. INESC Porto’s team involved elements of the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) and of the Information and Communication Systems Unit (USIC), in an example of cooperation between units.
