UESP participates in the Centre of Excellence for the Fashion Sector

The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) participates in the project TECMODA – Centre of Excellence for the Fashion Sector whose mission is to help national SMEs in the fashion sector (Textile, Clothes and Shoes) becoming more competitive in the global market.

The project also promotes the cooperation between Universities, Associations, Research Centres and Companies and acts like a facilitator in the application of innovation to the creation, manufacturing and business processes of those sectors of the national economy, through the application of Information, Communication and Electronics Technologies.

The project is structured into five Themes: Business and Collaboration Models; Information Systems in the Organizations; Product Development Systems, Prototyping and Virtual Reality; Smart Products – Wearable Technologies; Equipments and Smart Systems.

INESC Porto coordinates the activities of Information Systems in Organizations and the development sub-project: Electronic integration of SMEs of the fashion sector.
