At the invitation of Rui Martins, vice-rector of the University of Macau (China), Vladimiro Miranda represented INESC Porto in that institution’s 25th anniversary celebrations, last October 20th.

The day before, he had been the key-speaker at an event celebrating the 10th anniversary of INESC Macau in which he, as an IEEE Fellow, delivered a Distinguished Lecture dedicated to “Training Mappers with Entropy Concepts”. This event resulted from a co-organization of the University of Macau, INESC Macau and IEEE Macau Section.

The city of Macau, located in South China's province of Guangdong, 60 km from Hong Kong, was governed by Portugal for more than 450 years until 1999 when its administration was returned to China under a treaty between the two countries that recognizes Macau as a self-governed SAR within China.

Vladimiro Miranda was the first President of the Board of INESC Macau. He directed the institution in 1996 and 1997, guaranteeing the bases for a Portugal-China consortium seated in Macau and dedicated to information and communication technologies.
