IEEE RAB/TAB Delegation visits INESC Porto

Led by Peter Staeker, Vice President for the IEEE Technical Activities, and Jean-Gabriel Remy, the IEEE Region Director, a delegation of IEEE visited INESC Porto on the 20th of September and entered in contact with our reality and our PhD students.

The meeting took place in our Auditorium and an intense dialogue took place. IEEE wishes to expand activities in Portugal and to serve better its members and the identification of the resistence factors took an important role in the conversation held.

The post-graduation students expressed their views in what they consider is the benefit (or lack of it) of becoming a member of IEEE and a number of suggestions were advanced by the audience.

The Delegates announced a plan under consideration of creating a new class of members (it would be the Graduate Member) that would be somewhere between Student Member and regular Member in order to place an attractive offer to students in PhD studies.
