USE presents loss profiles for the electricity market

Following a contract with EDP Distribuição included in the CCR project, the Power Systems Unit (USE) presented to ERSE (Regulatory Authority for Energy Services) the necessary loss profiles for the feasible operation of the electricity market.

These profiles will replace the traditional adjusting factors for losses. This was already considered in the "Guide for mediation, reading and data availability in Portugal" (Order n.º 4591-A/2007).

Loss profiles will be used to determine the losses that each consumer causes every fifteen minutes. Doing so, it will be possible for different Market Agents to access much more precise data.

The proposal was broadly accepted by ERSE even though a few additional calculations were required in order to harmonize the results with the current tariff structure. The additional calculations have been concluded and immediately delivered.
