In the last week of March, the CoopNAV project presented its recent results in seminars that covered the whole center coast and Peninsular Northwest. This marathon began on the 28th in the Auditorium of the Lisnave Training Centre in Setúbal.

On the 29th, the seminar took place in Viana do Castelo (Portugal) in the facilities of Minho Industrial Association, next to the Viana do Castelo’s shipbuilding areas; on the 30th, in Vigo Financial Club (Spain) and, at last, on the 31st in the Innovation and Services Centre, El Ferrol (Spain).

In these seminars, the project was presented in a general way, as well as the results regarding the naval project tool and the cooperative platform.

The CoopNAV project is financed by INTERREG III A Programme, North of Portugal/Galicia Sub-Programme, which is meant to develop a tool for the ship building project, allowing the simulation and the project of ships, as well as a cooperative platform that enables the electronic interaction between the companies and its subcontractors. This system also involves the Sectorial Associations, enabling the sourcing and procurement through their Portals, integrating the tools described above.

This way, we intend to optimize the sector value chain, whether through the optimization of the production in the company, or through the optimization of the relationship between business partners, in order to render companies more competitive, making it possible to reduce time in sourcing, procurement and production in a network of companies.

The partners are the Sea Industries Association, the Galician Naval Cluster, the University of Vigo and the Innovation and Services Centre in El Ferrol. Right now, the pilot facilities are Viana do Castelo’s shipbuilding areas and the MCIES shipbuilding areas in Vigo.

INESC Porto is responsible for the project management, the modeling of the business processes and the development of the cooperative platform. INESC Porto’s team involves elements of the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) and of the Information and Communication Systems Unit (USIC), in an example of cooperation between units.

The project manager is António Gaspar and INESC Port’s technical manager is Luis Guardão.

The project will be finished in the end of the first semester, closing with a workshop in the naval exhibition Navalia, occurring in Vigo in the end of May.
