Football, work and no nonsense

Hey everybody!

I will finally write the article for this section of BIP, after several postponements. And although I had plenty of time to think, I still don’t know what to write about.

Since the section’s title is Free Nonsense, I could write a bunch of nonsense, but I’m lost there too. .

I can mention INESC Porto’s football tournament which begins next May. I could also discuss the friendliness and fair-play with which the games are played, but this subject will certainly be debated during the tournament.

I suggest the organization of tournaments of other modalities or other activities so that all the collaborators of the different units of INESC Porto have the chance to get together. Not everyone likes football! This is the suggestion of someone who has participated in every football tournament but who also enjoys socializing with people who are not into football.

I can also bring up my experience in the Optoelectronics and Electronic Systems Unit. It’s the easiest subject.

I arrived in the unit in 1998 to carry out my traineeship. I have been here for 8 years and I expect to be around for a lot longer still. Over this period, I have witnessed the coming and going of people who have marked my course. I have learned a lot in this unit and I hope to learn more still. The environment here, whether it’s scientific or human, is great but it can always improve. This is a challenge to all the people here, including new collaborators, so that we can keep developing a fine scientific work and so that some time from now, we can state that we are better.

I could go on and on about this, but I think this subject is too serious for a section called “Free Nonsense”…

To prevent the communication service from eliminating words (I shouldn’t write more than 2500 characters, including spaces) and so that the readers aren’t fed up with this, I will now end this article. See you soon!
