Have Your Say
The collaborator comments: “It’s because of this passion for knowledge, because of my relation with science and investigation and mainly because of this amazing working environment that I say that I love what I do and I thank everyone who made it possible…”

Gallery of the Uncommon
In the bustle of the set-up of new computers in the administrative services, André Freitas, of the Communications and Informatics Service, was so confused he mistook babies for computers…

Free Nonsense
The collaborator accepts the proposal: “I was delighted to be asked to write something for our noble Bulletin again, not just because of the fellow-feeling and professionalism of the people that come to me but also because of the relevance this bulletin has within our Institution…”

Difficult birth

Santa Claus was especially generous to the Administrative Services of INESC Porto. They were surprised with brand new computers, with all the gizmos you can expect from the latest hi-tech.

The collaborators in question were extremely happy, and the technicians of the Informatics and Communication Service were awfully busy trying to install every machine in record time. The bustle was such that the poor boys were always complaining (as if anyone would want to listen to them anyway…), that they actually dreamt of keyboards, screens, mice and other kinds of pets.

The highlight of this hurly-burly was the mix-up brought about by André Freitas. There was news that the baby (another one!) of one of our innumerous pregnant collaborators had been born. Precisely when installing this mummy’s computer, this hero lifts his head up from his professional shyness and, inspired and triumphant, announces:

“Have you heard Marta’s PC is born?”

Silence. Amazement. Laughter. Disbelief. What happened? Confusion? Short-circuit in the brain? Or…was it really true? André explains it again but as if we were really dumb…
