Legal Service welcomes Law trainee

On the 2nd of January, INESC Porto’s Legal Service integrated a Law trainee on their team.

Carla Sofia Melo graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Centro Regional do Porto in 2003. In that same institution she post-graduated in Contracts Law and during 2005 she was a trainee-lawyer.

The Legal Service opened a traineeship because INESC Porto felt the need to implement a Manual of Intellectual Property as well as to temporarily reinforce the area of legal support, given that Graça Barbosa, DIL’s coordinator, will have to intensify the coordination in this department because some people are absent on maternity leave.

The traineeship’s major objective is the legal branch of the implementation of the Manual of Intellectual Property, but it will also include work that supports the regular functioning of the Legal Service and, therefore, the cooperation in the response to the several solicitations made to this service.

When questioned about her expectations regarding the traineeship, Carla Melo states: “As for my traineeship in the legal service, most of all I expect to develop my abilities and competences in the context of the work of an institution related to investigation activities.

She goes on to say “Besides, I believe I will deepen and solidify knowledge in several areas, namely in Intellectual Property, Contracts, Company, Trade and Labour Law. I hope I can contribute to the smooth functioning of INESC Porto and aid in their activities, not only with the legal issues but also with any other matter or project. And I want to take this chance to thank this Institution for the excellent reception!”
