The Information and Communication Systems Unit (USIC) was
hired by NetDouro to conduct the technical preliminary plan
for the network of high speed area network on its optical
fiber infrastructure. This project is being conducted in
cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the
University of Porto and iPortalMais following a previous
work, the study of broadband infrastructures and available
services in the municipalities that make Águas do Douro e
Paiva. .
It should be noted that NetDouro is a company of Águas do
Douro e Paiva, SA (AdDp) that performs water intake and
distribution. It was founded with the mission to create
value in the use of the optical fiber network installed for
purposes of telemetry in the AdDP’s water distribution
system.
Águas do Douro e Paiva is the grantee of the
multi-municipal system around Porto until 2006. The
stockholders of AdDP are Águas de Portugal and 18
municipalities: Arouca, Castelo de Paiva, Cinfães, Espinho,
Felgueiras, Gondomar, Lousada, Maia, Matosinhos, Oliveira de
Azeméis, Ovar, Paços de Ferreira, Paredes, Porto, Santa
Maria da Feira, São João da Madeira, Valongo, Vila Nova de
Gaia.
