The Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) is working
on the creation of a University of Porto Television Channel
(UPTV), together with the students of Journalism and
Communication Sciences.
UPTV will be publicly presented in March, on the
University day.
This main objectives of this channel are to contribute to
a unified vision of the University of Porto, to support the
needs of Communication of the entities of the University do
Porto, to allow for the exhibition of experimental
production in the area of culture and science communication,
to promote events and debates of the UP’s interest and to
help students practice their communication knowledge.
The UTM is in charge of the channel distribution, and it
will use peer-to-peer technology – an innovative application
in the scenery of Corporate TVs.
The UTM’s team involved in the project is made of Artur
Pimenta Alves, Sílvio Macedo, Pedro Carvalho and Hélder
Castro. João Paulo Rodrigues’ collaboration is also expected.
