On the coming March 6 – 10, the Faculty of Engineering of
the University of Porto (FEUP) will welcome students from
several high-schools in the north of country.
Like in the previous editions, the Open Week objective is
to try to make engineering more attractive to the younger
ones.
As a FEUP associate, INESC Porto will also participate
actively in this initiative. There are presentations
scheduled for the five days of the event in the following
themes: INESC Porto and R&D areas, Multimedia Tools,
Industrial Automation, Optoelectronics and Electronic
Systems, Renewable Energies and Geographical Information
Systems applied to Municipalities.

the UP Science, Education and Innovation Exhibition
INESC Porto will once more participate in the Science,
Education and Innovation Exhibition, taking place from March
16 – 19 at the Rosa Mota Pavilion.
The Rectory of the University of Porto (UP) is in charge
of the organization of the event. The main goal is to inform
young students about the degrees this University offers as
well as to motivate them to become acquainted with its
varied facets.
Simultaneously, the Exhibition of the University of Porto
wants to establish a closer relationship with the community
in which the University is, aiming at public awareness of
its several activities.
All the faculties that integrate the University will be
present as well as distinguished research centres in which
INESC Porto is included.
INESC Porto’s space will highlight a possible model of
the future railway bridge over the Douro river for the
high-speed trains, instrumented with an integrated
monitoring system made of different types of Bragg sensors.
A jump height measurement using a fiber optic grid will be
in display also.
The Exhibition will be available on the days indicated
above, from 10 a.m – 8 p.m. (Saturday it will be open until
11 p.m).
