The Power Systems Unit signs a contract for wave energy

The Power Systems Unit was contracted by Enervia - a company of the Enersis group - to conduct a study aiming at the identification of alternatives of connection to the national electrical network of a generation plant using wave energy, adopting Pelamis technology, with an installed capacity of 20 MW and with a sea/land connection in the area of Aguçadoura (Póvoa de Varzim).

Portugal has been viewed in recent years as one of the countries leading the exploration of wave energy resources and INESC Porto is one of the institutions with real capacity to contribute to this effort..

The project will be led by João Peças and it will involve the cooperation of Pereira da Silva, Luis Seca and Ângelo Mendonça.
